Annual Status Report
2009
Events
Staff held a CLG Preservation Workshop on June 10th, 2009,
at 1:00 p.m., at the HLC office; it ended with a tour of the original
Charlotte Coliseum. The workshop theme was mid-twentieth century
modernism. Three HLC Commissioners, Mr. Gray Newman, Dr. Richard Mattson,
and Mr. Matt Benson, attended. Therefore, the HLC maintains its
Certified Local Government status.
Past Projects
1) The HLC Purchased the Robert & Elizabeth
Smith house, located at 1708 Park Road in Dilworth (for $460,000.00)
on February 2, 2009, and sold the house (for $480,000.00) on June 30th, 2009.

2) Mr. Edgar E. McQuay generously donated the
McQuay House, located at 3200 Tuckaseegee Road in West Charlotte to
the HLC in early April 2009. The Commission sold the McQuay House for
$20,000.00 on June 10, 2009, to Contractors who will rehabilitate the house,
bringing it up to code. The Commission retained ownership of the land
behind the house.

Current Projects
Grier-Rea House,
6701 Providence Road, Charlotte, N.C. - The
house is currently being marketed for sale, priced at $980,000.
Meanwhile, Mattson-Alexander Associates are processing the house for
potential listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
White Oak, 7729
Hood Road, Charlotte, N.C.- The house is
currently being marketed for sale, priced at $1,300,000. The tenants
continue to maintain house and pay rent well ahead of
schedule.

Now listed in the National Register of Historic Places, Rozzel is currently
listed with Realtor Linda Kidd.

McAuley House, 10900 Alexanderana Road, Charlotte, N.C. The
house is now listed with Lee Peterson, Realtor.

General Store, 316 Main Street, Pineville, N.C.-
The property is currently listed with Mr. Charles Major
of Savvy + Company Real Estate. The search continues to locate a
tenant for this building. The front facade of the building building is
currently being painted to highlight its historic character.

Blankenship Feed and Oil Store, 330 Main Street, Pineville, N.C.-
Also listed with Mr. Charles Major of Savvy + Company Real Estate.
The front facade as well as the side of the building building are also being
painted to highlight their historic character. An antique shop occupies the
space.
Torrence Lytle
School, 302 Holbrooks Road, Huntersville, N.C. Staff continues
to work to finalize the transfer of the property to the HLC.
