STATUS

Charlotte Cotton Mills Phase II major interior and exterior stabilization is 99% complete. Remaining work on this contract is on the exterior. Fire sprinkler system upgrades have been completed. Phase III construction is well underway with completion scheduled for late August 2003.
Oehler Farm Consultant is awaiting comments from Archives and History Office. Consultant has been advised that construction has been put on hold until funding is available. Consultant is proceeding with construction document development.
Rozzell House Architect is 99% complete with construction drawings. Consultant has been advised of budget reduction and is preparing bid alternates. Anticipate bidding project in early Sept 03. Certificate of Appropriateness was approved @ the 25 Feb. 03 Design Review Committee Meeting. National Registry documentation has been completed and submitted. Tenant has vacated main house in preparation of construction.
McAuley House Second Design review has been completed. Consultant is awaiting comments from Archives and History Office. Selective interior removal/demolition has begun to allow access for structural evaluations. Consultant has been advised that construction has been put on hold until funding is available. Consultant is proceeding with construction document development.
Palmer Fire School Barwick Associates has begun restoration of the Assembly Building with anticipated completion id Sept 2003.
George E. Davis House Bethune, Nystrom and Turner met with representative of JCSU on 28 Mar 03. Gantt Huberman Architects will develop construction documents for JCSU with consultation with HLC staff. Budgets and fees have been revised by GH and are awaiting decision form JCSU board concerning their financial commitment to the project.
Croft School House Sale has been completed. Purchasers are occupying the building.
W.T. Alexander Plantation Exterior restoration is complete. New underground utility installation is complete. Apprasial has been ordered. Discussions with Barwick Associates continue.

Ref; Access Easement: HLC Attorney has contacted the apartment developer's legal representative. Discussions were encouraging. Their legal representative is new to the company and was not involved in the original negotiations. We have forwarded specific information to him and he was to become more familiar with the property and our access issue for future discussions.

We have asked the land surveyor that developed the original plot plans for W.T. Alexander site to verify the location of all the improvements accomplished by the apartment developer along the boundary between the HLC tract and the apartments in an effort to exactly determine there respective location and to help identify the reason(s) the street was not turned over to the city of Charlotte.

Grier-Rea House Foundation construction and repair of the lower level under floor system, foundation walls, and internal piers is complete. National Registry nomination is complete. Consultant is awaiting clarification of certain design review issues from Archives and History Office. A/E and Staff are developing Scope of Work for Second Phase.
Grier House Site cleanup, exterior, and interior hazardous material removal is completed. Building has been boarded up to prevent vandalism. Portrait Homes has completed demolition of all other existing structures on the site and have construction underway. Architect has completed construction documents. Documents are being reviewed by contractors with bids to be received 21 Aug 2003.
Trolley Car Barn City and CATS staff are reviewing survey to determine if parcel indicated to be purchased by the County is adequate for the needs of CATS and Charlotte Trolley.
Rural Hill School House Construction has been completed.
Grand Theater Purchase will be completed 30 May 2003. Tennant has been asked to vacate. Building will be secured indefinitely.
Yandell House Purchase is complete. Minor stabilization and repairs have begun including roofing, gutter, and interior finish repair. Extensive landscape maintenance is required and has begun. "For Sale" sign is being developed, anticipate installation around 1 Sept 03.
