Charlotte Observer Company Building.  UTM:  17 513502E 3897315N  Completed in 1972, the Charlotte Observer Company Building provided a new and expanded home for the Charlotte Observer and the Charlotte News when it opened.  Designed by J. N. Pease Associates, one of Charlotte's most influential architecture/engineering firms, the building is very much in keeping with the dictates of the International style.  Much as Le Corbusier and other Modernist insisted, the building is completely devoid of traditional decoration and makes a straightforward statement about its structural elements.

J. N. Pease, Jr. is standing in the middle of this group.  He was chief designer for J. N. Pease when the Charlotte Observer Building was completed.

J. Norman Pease
