AGENDA
1. Committee Chairman: Amy Hockett, Vice-Chair
Ms. Hockett welcomed everyone to the meeting.
2. Consulting Director’s Report: Dan Morrill
Dr. Morrill briefly reviewed the issues to be discussed on the meeting
tonight.
3. Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the Sidney and
Ethel Grier House, 4701 McKee Road, Charlotte, N. C.
Mr. Murdock presented proposed design schemes. Committee members
discussed the proposed designs.
MR. BOOKOUT PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MR. WALDEN TO RECOMMEND TO THE
HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT A CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS BE
APPROVED FOR THE GRIER HOUSE, 4701 McKEE ROAD, CHARLOTTE, N. C., AS
PRESENTED SUBJECT TO FURTHER REVIEW OF THE DESIGN OF THE REAR DORMER BY THE
HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION AT ITS JUNE 9TH MEETING. THE COMMITTEE
UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.
4. Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the Grier-Rea
House, 6701 Providence Road, Charlotte, N. C.
Mr. Yelverton presented proposed design plans. The Committee members
discussed the plans and asked questions. Mr. Yelverton said that Mr. Paul
Fomberg, restoration specialist from the N. C. Division of Archives and
History, cannot come to see the house until June 16th or 17th. Dr. Morrill
said that the Design Review Committee should withhold a motion regarding the
restoration until approval of the proposed design is obtained from the N. C.
Division of Archives and History until Archives and History has certified
the plans.
5. Old Business
Dr. Morrill reported that results from preliminary meetings held to
review plans for the W. T. Alexander property are on hold due to the fact
that the potential buyer is not willing at this point to pay the price that
the HLC has invested in the property. Negotiations continue, and Dr. Morrill
will keep the Committee posted on developments.
6. New Business
There was no new business.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
