a. Rezoning of the Grier-Rea House

House at original location
The Commission has filed a rezoning
application for the Grier-Rea House and property to rezone the property to
R6 so that additional residential structures can be placed on the site.
As part of the process a meeting was held with neighbors of the property.
Considerable opposition was expressed at that meeting. In view of this
opposition and because of the need to reconsider what would be the best
long-term preservation solution for the Grier-Rea House I recommend the
following action.
1) Withdraw the rezoning application
2) Appoint an ad-hoc Grier-Rea House
Committee to work with staff in considering the range of solutions for the
property and to work with staff to assure that the completion of the
restoration of the house to the level needed for effective marketing is
achieved at the earliest possible date.
