a.  Consideration of the Survey of the Survey and Research Report on the George Stephens House.  Click here for report.

The Survey Committee passed the following motion at its November meeting.

MR. BENSON PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY MR. ABERNETHY TO RECOMMEND TO THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE INTERIOR AND THE ENTIRE TAX PARCEL OF THE GEORGE STEPHENS HOUSE, 821 HARVARD PLACE, CHARLOTTE, N. C.,  BE  PROCESSED FOR HISTORIC DESIGNATION.  THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

The previous owner of the Stephens House wanted the designation to be limited to the front yard and the exterior of the house.  The present owner wants the designation extended to the entire property.  Staff believes that the property meets the legal requirements for historic designation.  Staff recommends approval of the motion as presented.

b.  Consideration of the Survey of Historic Structures and Places in Pineville, N.C.  Click here for Survey.

The Survey Committee passed the following motion at its November meeting.

MR. BENSON PRESENTED A MOTION SECONDED BY DR. MATTSON TO RECOMMEND TO THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION THAT THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION ADOPT THE OFFICIAL FINDINGS OF THE SURVEY OF HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND PLACES IN PINEVILLE, N. C., AS PRESENTED IN THE REPORT BY DR. DAN MORRILL AND MR. PAUL ARCHAMBAULT.  THE COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MOTION.

Staff recommends approval of the motion as presented.
