The Historic Landmarks Commission will meet next on November 14, 2005, in its offices in the Ratcliffe-Otterbourg House at 2100 Randolph Road, Charlotte, N.C.  The meeting shall commence at 6 p.m.  Anyone needing assistance should contact the Historic Landmarks Commission beforehand at 704-376-9115.

4.  Survey Committee Matters.

     a.  Consideration of the Survey and Research Report on the Elizabeth Lawrence Garden and House. 

Click here for the Survey and Research Report.  Special Note:  this matter has not become before the Survey Committee.  The applicant, however, has requested that the property be processed as quickly as possible, and staff believes that such action is justified because of the special significance of the prospective historic landmark.

5.  Projects Committee Matters.  Click Here For Minutes.

     a.  Charlotte Trolley.  Charlotte Trolley will be requesting that a portion of the money the County will receive for the purchase of the trolley barn be used to build a museum/maintenance facility for Charlotte Trolley.

     b.  Grace A.M.E. Zion Church.  Discussions continue with representatives of the Church.  The Committee will update the Commission.

     c.  Richard Wearn House.  Bank of America's Trust Department has approached the Commission about the purchase of the Richard Wearn House on Tuckaseegee Road by the HLC.  The Committee will update the Commission.

     d.  N. S. Alexander House.  The Projects Committee will update the Commission on the prospective purchase of this property at Shamrock Dr. and N. Sharon Amity by the HLC.

     e.  W. B. Newell House.  The Projects Committee will update the Commission on the prospective purchase of this property on Old Concord Road by the HLC.

     f.  White Oak Plantation.  The Projects Committee will update the HLC on how the HLC might assist with the preservation of this historic resource.

6.  New Business.

     a.  Morningside Apartments.  You will be presented with a request from residents of the Morningside Apartments that the HLC fund a Survey and Research Report on the property so that the designation process can move forward.  The Commission has already placed the property on the Study List.  The Commission staff is unaware of the attitude of the owner toward the prospect of designation.
