Baseball was an important part of mill life. John Lindley is on the left. L. W. Stutts on the right. These cigar-smoking lads were members of the Highland No. 3 Ball Team.

Folks in North Charlotte used to meet at the community pump. The lady on the left is Erma Litton. The one on the right is Zada Lee. Both lived in boarding houses until they got married.
