Mr. Kluttz opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. He noted that a quorum was not present and that no motions could be presented by the Committee. Everything would have to be treated as representing a consensus of the members present.

Mr. Kluttz asked the representatives of the firms scheduled to make presentations for marketing the Charlotte Cotton Mills to return for the meeting of the Historic Landmarks Commission on February 13th. The reason for their not appearing at this meeting was the absence of a quorum.

Dr. Morrill explained that he has identified a UNCC intern, Jason Nichols, who, if approved the by the HLC, would devote 145 hours at $10 per hour between February 14th and May 15th to assisting with the rezoning of the N. S. Alexander House and with the identification and evaluation of historic artifacts in the house. Dr. Morrill requested that a recommendation be made to recommend to the Historic Landmarks Commission that Mr. Nichols be retained under the terms outlined above.

IT WAS THE CONSENSUS OF THE COMMITTEE THAT THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION SHOULD RETAIN JASON NICHOLS AS A CONSULTANT FOR 145 HOURS AT AN HOURLY RATE OF $10 TO ASSIST WITH THE REZONING OF THE N. S. ALEXANDER HOUSE, LOCATED AT 5014 NORTH SHARON AMITY ROAD, CHARLOTTE.

The listing agreement with Bobby Spivey has been renewed for the Rozzel House. Mr. Turner also noted that Bobby Spivey has recommended that $489,900 be established as a revised price for the property.

IT WAS THE CONSENSUS OF THE COMMITTEE THAT THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION SHOULD LOWER THE SALES PRICE OF THE ROZZEL HOUSE PROPERTY, LOCATED AT 11647 ROZZELLES FERRY ROAD.

Mr. Turner reported that the marketing of the Rozzel House continues. Bobby Spivey is recommending that the price be lowered. Most of the showings have been for uses that will require a rezoning

Mr. Turner briefly reviewed the status of all current projects. He noted that the Grier-Rea House should be ready for marketing in April, that progress continues on the Bethesda School, and that Jack Copland will be completing plans for the upfit of the Sidney and Ethel Grier House by the end of the week.

Ms. Smith asked about the status of work on the McAuley House and the Oehler House. Dr. Morrill and Mr. Turner explained that Mr. Robert Schmitt, a contractor, had visited both properties within the past month and that additional meetings were scheduled for next week.

Ms. Nystrom reported that a contract has not yet been signed by the owners of Grace A.M.E. Zion Church.

Ms. Nystrom reported that the appraisal has been received for the Wearn House on Tuckaseegee Road.

IT WAS THE CONSENSUS OF THE COMMITTEE THAT THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION SHOULD ENTER INTO A CONTRACT TO PURCHASE THE WEARN HOUSE, LOCATED AT 4928 TUCKASEEGEE ROAD, AT THE PRICE OFFERED BY BANK OF AMERICA AND THAT DURING THE DUE DILIGENCE PERIOD A DETERMINATION OF THE COST TO BRING THE BUILDING UP TO CODE BE MADE AND DISCUSSIONS BE SOUGHT WITH THE CHARLOTTE MECKLENBURG SCHOOLS AND THE PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT OF THE COUNTY ABOUT A POSSIBLE JOINT PROJECT.

The Committee discussed the status of White Oak Plantation. Dr. Morrill showed photographs of the property and explained its dimensions.

IT WAS THE CONSENSUS OF THE COMMITTEE THAT THE HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION SHOULD SECURE AN APPRAISAL OF THE ENTIRE PROPERTY ASSOCIATED WITH WHITE OAK PLANTATION, LOCATED ON HOOD ROAD, AND SHOULD SEEK TO CLARIFY THE AVAILABILITY OF SEWER TO THE PROPERTY.

Mr. Kluttz announced that the Committee was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
