Mr. Norman welcomed
everyone to the meeting. He said that recommendations this evening
will be presented as motions at the June 14th HLC meeting due to the
fact that a quorum is not present.
Dr. Morrill presented
updates on the Pineville Survey, Neck Road and Martin’s Grocery.
Dr. Morrill said that the
Pineville Survey is going well and will be completed in September.
Dr. Morrill said that Huntersville officials would like to have a
complete survey of historic resources in Huntersville, including its
ETJ, performed and that they have requested an estimated cost. Dr.
Morrill said that he and Mr. Gray met with the Martin Grocery’s (Lupie’s)
attorney about the HLC’s having a right of first refusal, but that
the attorney has not gotten back with them about this matter. Dr.
Morrill reported that the owner of the Jordan Farm is offering the
property for sale and that the Projects Committee will be made aware
of its availability.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1. THE SURVEY COMMITTEE
RECOMMENDS TO THE HLC THAT THE EWART HOUSE, CURRENTLY LOCATED AT
12920 HUNTERSVILLE-CONCORD ROAD, HUNTERSVILLE, N. C., BE PROCESSED
FOR HISTORIC DESIGNATION AFTER IT IS MOVED TO ITS NEW SITE.
2. THE SURVEY COMMITTEE
RECOMMENDS TO THE HLC THAT THE MATTHEWS POST OFFICE, 195 NORTH TRADE
STREET, MATTHEWS, N. C., BE PLACED ON THE HLC’S STUDY LIST.
3. THE SURVEY COMMITTEE
RECOMMENDS TO THE HLC THAT THE McQUAY HOUSE, 3200 TUCKASEEGEE ROAD,
CHARLOTTE, N. C., BE PLACED ON THE HLC’S STUDY LIST.
4. THE SURVEY COMMITTEE
RECOMMENDS TO THE HLC THAT THE McAULEY FARM, 15832 McAULEY ROAD,
HUNTERSVILLE, N. C.. BE PLACED ON THE HLC’S STUDY LIST.
5. THE SURVEY COMMITTEE
RECOMMENDS TO THE HLC THAT THE STRATTON HOUSE, 911 WEST FOURTH
STREET, CHARLOTTE, N. C., BE PLACED ON THE HLC’S STUDY LIST.
Note: Staff will write a
letter to the owner of the Renfrow-Lemmond House, 344 W. John
Street, Matthews, N. C., soliciting the owner's attitude regarding
placing the property on the HLC's Study List.
