Historic Properties Properties For Sale About The Commission Browse By Topic Local History Links Home Page

The Commission has approximately $18000 to fund Survey and Research Reports for prospective historic landmarks.  The Commission has already voted to fund a Survey and Research Report on the Charlotte Union Bus Terminal, meaning that funds are available to perform 11 Survey and Research Reports this year.

Staff has reviewed properties that have been surveyed to date throughout Mecklenburg County and has selected some of the most historically significant.  All of the listed properties, and or their settings, are potentially endangered, and there is reasonable expectation that the owners may support designation.

The approach would be to contact the owners to determine if they support or oppose historic landmark designation.  That information would be brought to the Survey Committee at its next meeting, and the Committee would determine how that information should affect the designation process on each property.
