Re: Washam Farm / JAGCO
Dear Dr. Morrill:
I
am writing to update you regarding the status of the Washam Farm property in
advance of tonight’s Commission meeting. We have reviewed the proposal and
diagram on your web site for the designation of approximately five acres
surrounding the 1.5-acre tract owned by Joe K. Washam. We are also aware
that the Town of Huntersville very recently passed its new zoning ordinance,
thus answering some of our questions regarding the impact of the new open
space requirements on the property. Based on our previous communications
and our initial interpretation of the zoning ordinance, we feel confident
that we can reach a final agreement with respect to this property.
Since the new zoning ordinance was passed,
however, we have not had an opportunity to communicate with Joe Klutz, who
has been our contact person from the Commission and has been instrumental in
working to reach an agreement that will be acceptable to all. As a result,
we would like to request that the Commission postpone a vote on the
potential designation of this property until we have had an opportunity to
discuss the details of a possible agreement with Joe Klutz. Our clients
have indicated that they would like to finalize this matter at your April
meeting, so we anticipate having the specifics of a proposed agreement
finalized before the Commission’s April meeting date.
We
understand that one of the Commission’s primary concerns is that the out
buildings will be moved or altered before the Commission is able to process
the property for landmark designation. Please accept this letter as our
client’s confirmation that the out buildings will not be moved or altered
prior to the Commission’s April meeting.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions regarding these
matters. I look forward to working with you to finalize an agreement with
respect to this property.
