Blandville House on Dunbar Street.  UTM:  17 513263E 3897513N Blandville, an African American community, grew up in the early twentieth century to the west of Tryon Street just below Morehead Street. It was common for African Americans to live at the edge of the Center City.  The centerpiece of the neighborhood was the African American First Baptist Church, destroyed in the 1970s.  Dunbar Street contains the only vestiges of Blandville.  This structure is the best preserved example of modest homes built for laborers.  In 1939 it was the home to Clarence Freeman, who worked as a helper at the nearby  Terrell Machine Company on West Palmer Street in Third Ward. The house dates from the late 1920s or early 1930s.
